The SINA OneWay H is a black/red gateway and approved for the classifications levels German SECRET and NATO SECRET. OneWay gateways are inserted at interfaces between networks with ascending information classification. Key features of this network transfer are exclusively unidirectional data transfer, automated high-performance transfer of large data quantities and low transfer durations.
The SINA OneWay H consists of a data diode and two proxies used as transfer computers. The Gateway allows data transfers in one direction only from a public or low-level “black” source network to a higher-level “red” target network. Data is transferred using a protocol that includes automatic error detection and correction, but no reporting back to the sending side. The purely hardware-based data diode thus ensures that no physical reverse channel exists.
The system enables e.g. the transfer of public data found on the Internet to a SECRET network. Forwarding of emails allows users on a “red” network to receive messages from a “black” network.
The SINA OneWay H is not a cryptographic component.
