KIV-21

The KIV-21 is a stand-alone, in-line network encryptor (INE) based on the National Security Agency (approved Embeddable INFOSEC Product (EIP). The KIV-21 was developed by ViaSat, Inc under the NSA's Commercial COMSEC Endorsement Program (CCEP) to provide Type 1 security for IP-based networks.

Additional Notes

The KIV-21 provides Type 1 encryption for Internet Protocol (IP) -based networks, allowing users to securely pass IP datagram traffic up to the SECRET level (TOP SECRET with NSA approval) across private intranets, wide-area enterprises, and the public internet. The KIV-21 is a plug-and-play device that functions similarly to a router on a secure network and uses network protocols to perform most configuration and path discovery functions dynamically. The KIV-21 connects to the secure Red network via Ethernet and the wide-area Black network via a high-speed serial interface. The KIV-21's Trusted Bypass protocol allows data packets to navigate through non-secure infrastructure to secure destinations.
