NATO has endorsed the use of approved "Best Practice" to provide configuration guidance for information assurance products and services in use within NATO networks. This page provides links to several national endorsed information assurance configuration guidance sites.
The guidance documentation obtained through this site can be used as the basis for site specific configuration. Where NITC develops specific guidance that is classified NATO Restricted or higher, those guidance documents wil be posted on the NATO SECRET network information assurance portal. You can also find some IA equipment specific guidance on the NATO IA Product Catalogue (NIAPC) also available through this portal.
The STIGs and the NSA Guides are the configuration standards for DOD IA and IA-enabled devices/systems. A Security Checklist (sometimes referred to as a lockdown guide, hardening guide, or benchmark configuration) is essentially a document that contains instructions or procedures to verify compliance to a baseline level of security.
